Rehabilitation Services
Physical Therapy is a treatment-based service in the medical care of a patient. The patient is usually referred by a physician, but self-referrals can be made if the patient is under insurance other than Medicare. Physical therapy treatments are covered by federal, state and private insurance companies.
Physical therapy is used to prevent or reduce the symptoms and progression of limitations and disabilities which may result from diseases or injuries.
Some common treatment diagnoses include the following:
• Low back pain/sciatica • Neck Pain • Rotator cuff injuries
• Ankle sprain • Knee pain • Hip pain
• Osteoporosis • Burn care • Plantar fasciitis
• Carpal tunnel syndrome • Rehabilitation after a stroke
Treatments available include the following:
• Hot/cold agents • Electrical stimulation • Ultrasound
• Whirlpool • Debridement • Therapeutic massage
• Exercises for improved posture
• Compression treatments for edema/swelling
• Mechanical traction for lumbar and cervical spine
• Iontophoresis to apply anti-inflammatory medication to specific area
• Therapeutic exercises for muscle strengthening, muscle flexibility and balance
